'Allora' was a special commission for a client who liked the look of a sculpture of mine from the year previous called 'Gemini/Flow'.

 

The idea of energy flowing around two black holes often occupied my mind as I worked on this piece.

 

The two faces of the piece represent contrasting ways of approaching life. Straight ahead or with a bit of a bend.

Blue calcite is harder than soapstone but softer than marble and is chalk-full of natural veins and fissures.

The beauty of the stone is in its stunning blue colour, made possible by hours of sanding and polishing to let the light in.
